Gene played at Florida High and Tallahassee Community College before transferring to Charleston Southern where he was a three year letterman for the Buccaneers. He began his coaching career in 2003 as an assistant at Florida Southern College, first as an Assistant College and then Head High School coach, including four seasons at Florida A&M DRS where he led his team to three Florida High School Athletic Association State Final Four appearances and most recent BIG BEND 2023 Coach of the Year.
In addition his coaching experience, Gene has done skill development and strength training and was the first Director of Basketball Operations and Athletic Director at the DME Sports in Daytona. Gene is a current member of USA Basketball, Jr. NBA and the Recruiting Manager of HSRECRUITING.
Academically Gene is a certified Secondary Instructor in the State of Florida and currently in 8th year as the Head of Boys Basketball at Maclay College Preparatory School. Gene has held memberships of the National Association Speed Explosion and International Sports Science Association.
He and his wife Lindsey have two young sons, Carter (Nine) and Cameron (Five).

Coach Eugene Granger is a well-known basketball figure throughout the state of Florida and across the entire South Eastern United States. Based primarily in Tallahassee, Florida, Coach Granger played basketball for Florida State University High School and Tallahassee Community College before transferring to Charleston Southern University where he was a three-year letter-man for the Buccaneers. Coach Granger has over a decade of head coaching experience and began his coaching career in 2003 as an assistant at Florida Southern College and then continued at the preparatory level with Florida State University High School, West Gadsden High School, and at the Florida A&M Developmental Research School where he led his team to three Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Final Four appearances in four seasons. In addition to his coaching experience, Coach Granger has provided numerous athletes with instruction in individual player skill development and strength training.
